NaNoWriMo tolls for thee, I mean me

A funny old month, full of travel and death, as well as the first drafts of two new short stories that I'm very excited about. As you'll have obviously read in my latest blog post (click here for revision) these stories have been a slightly new experience for me. Topic-wise they are too: one's about a generation ship, where everything goes wrong; and the other is about nanotechnology and data protection...and everything goes wrong. That's right, data protection. But you know, sexier. Sexy, cool data protection. Yeah, I know I can't sell it like that.

Next Tuesday is the 1st November which means it's time for my first ever NaNoWriMo, and I'm back to AI and civil rights, right where I belong.

I'm approaching it rather calmly so far. Hopefully I'm not just walking into it blind. I keep reminding myself that I wrote 44,000 words in 22 days (2,000 a day, Monday-Friday, for just over 4 weeks), after moving to my new house in Leeds where I have a dedicated place to write. I got the routine, I'm sure I can do 50,000 words of a novel I've not even properly planned yet.

Sure I can.

Course I can.

Can I??

...

...awwwww shit. Should probably plan some more. Or maybe that's just what they want me to think.

Who knows? I'll find out. Follow my delight and pain on this delightful journey via the website, Twittems, Facebook, finding me in the real world gibbering, however is easiest for you really. I'll post regular updates I am sure and try to keep this ol' site enfreshened too.

NaNoWriMo, woo!
